WHAT TO EXPECT

We take a collaborative and comprehensive approach to supporting your child. Our process begins with a thorough assessment to understand your child's unique needs and goals for therapy. We believe that parent involvement is essential, so we maintain regular communication with check-ins to provide guidance and practical strategies that you can use at home. Finally, we develop a personalized treatment plan using evidence-based interventions, equipping your child with the tools they need to navigate challenges, build resilience, and thrive.

IS THERAPY RIGHT FOR MY CHILD?

  • When we begin working with a child, the process starts with an initial parent intake session. This session allows us to gain a deep understanding of your child’s experiences, challenges, and strengths. We also take this time to discuss your goals and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process.

Following the intake, therapy sessions are tailored to meet your child’s unique needs. Depending on the situation, we may focus on individual therapy, family sessions, or a combination of both. For younger children, play-based interventions may be incorporated to help them express their feelings and build coping skills. For adolescents, sessions may focus on managing stress, navigating relationships, and building emotional resilience.

We also believe in close collaboration with parents. Regular check-ins allow us to update you on progress and provide guidance for supporting your child at home.

  • Therapy is not a quick solution for a child’s emotional or behavioral challenges. Rather, it is a thoughtful, in-depth process that equips children with the tools and insights needed to manage their thoughts and feelings. This process is key in helping children grow into happy, healthy, and well-adjusted adults.

Sometimes, individual therapy is the most appropriate approach. Children may experience mood or behavioral difficulties that respond well to individual therapy or a combination of individual sessions and family/parenting support. Since every child is part of a larger family system, we believe in working closely with parents and family members to ensure comprehensive care and lasting change.
